It's a forum run by some great people and full of members who are all looking for the same thing. Free goodies and deals!

I found this out the hard way when I added a couple of sites to my signature for a posting, ( http://www.goodiesanddeals.net and http://goodiesanddeals.greenzappers.com ). No sooner had I added my comments, I received a "friendly reminder" from one of their moderators letting me know I broke the rules of the forum. I quickly responded and changed my signature to which a complimentary response was sent praising me for my quick attention in dealing with the matter.

Online (Internet) Etiquette, it sounds so stuffy and formal.

What is it & why do we need it? Well, this article will layout some of the good and bad thing that occur on the net on a daily basis.

Some, you probably know about and others may be new to you. Either way, if you do your best to follow them, I guarantee your online experience will be more enjoyable for it.

In today's "Politically Correct" World, good manners are a must when Marketing on the Net! Here's a fun look at "Internet Etiquette" that will help keep readers coming back for more!

DO'S and Dont's:

Do - Try and return all emails in a timely fashion and include your name and contact info on your website

When selling a product or service, send a short email acknowledging the sale, thanking the customer and explaining deliver of product

Have a separate, professional email address for conducting business. (your email address can equate to an online version of a first impression)

Update your website on a regular basis. If you don't care about it, why should anyone else?
Here's a freebie (an easy way to do this is by changing the date; click here for a free script to do just that)

Make sure you spell check your information before you put it up on the web.

Don't - send messages in all capital letters, it's the internet version of yelling!

Use excessive highlighting and a lot of unnecessary bold copy. Once again, YOU'RE YELLING!

When building your web page, stay away from light color text on a dark background. (It's really hard to read and most people won't even try)

Cut the High Cost of Shipping Supplies

Hey Gang,

found this one just before the holidays and got so busy, I forgot to pass it on. That's ok though, because it's ongoing.

If you run a business, sell items by online auction or just do a lot of mailing, here a simple way to cut the costs. Order your shipping supplies from the USPS website!

They provide a variety of shipping supplies, including boxes and tape, shipped directly to your door and most are absolutely free! You can even prepay shipping charges and print out the labels ( sorry, you do have to pay for that part ).

Boxes from your local store or supply shop can cost up to $3.50 each and tape is a buck minimum, so you can start to see where thing could add up.

Again, it's the US Postal Service website but keep in mind, their supplies can only be used for to ship stuff via the USPS! Just think of the time and money you'll save preparing your packages at home, with labels completed, so all you have to do is drop them off or have the postman pick them up!

Enhance Your Website With Low to No Cost Photos

I do a lot of graphic work for both the internet and the imprintable industry. Because of this, I need to have access to high quality photos. This can get quite expensive as some Royalty Free Photo sites charge up to $400.00 for one photo!

fortunately, I found sites that have high quality Royalty Free photos, for as low as $.50 each and sometimes, even for free!

Here are a few of my favorite spots: Dreamstime offers photos and even Photo objects (photos without the background) from $.50 a photo but requires a $20.00 minimum deposit to get started.

IStockPhoto also has photos, vector art and web graphics from $.50 each and only asks for a $10.00 minimum for credits.

ClipArt.com offers the same deal as Dreamstime and IStock Photo, but you can only buy blocks of time. The good news is, you can get unlimited downloads starting as low as $15.00 for three days. And of course, there is my all time favorite, StockXchange, where all the photos are Free!

So there you are, low or no cost Royalty Free Photos to spruce up your next project! Please note: even though these photos are Royalty Free, read the usage permit and author restrictions before you use them, just in case!

Email Your large files for Free!

So what do you know, it's a double play Sunday!

I just finished watching the Steelers beat the Seahawks in Superbowl XL and when I got back to my trusty computer, I discovered another great freebie to pass on to you.

A friend of mine sent me this and of course I'm passing it on to you ;=)

Question, have you ever had a large file that needed to be emailed to someone but when you tried, your email server kicked it out with the error message, "file exceeds the maximum number of megabytes allowed"!

That's right, many of the email servers out there, especially the free ones, (ie. Yahoo, net zero, hotmail, ect), have a ceiling on the size of an attachment you can send or receive by email. This is usually around 3 to 5mb's which most of the time is more than enough.

But what about those family vacation photos or that special song or project for work? Sometimes those files can climb into the 70 plus megabyte rang, with some files reaching up to 1 gig! Well, short of having your own FTP server, you had to try to compress these files or, heaven forbid, burn a CD and send it by snail mail!

Well I've got the answer! Go to YouSendIt.com! There you can send file, up to 100 megabytes, for free and you don't even have to signup for an account! Just go to the home page, enter the email of who you want to send the file to then, click the browse file button to find the file you want to send, click and that's it, you're done!

Once the file is uploaded, you'll get a completed message and a link to your file will be sent by email to your recipient and also to you! Isn't that great!

Here are a couple of more that are also free and user friendly to. SendThisFile.com is simular to You Send It and just as easy to use and the one my friend sent me, SendOver.com claims you can send up to 2gig!

Anything bigger than that and you're on your own :-)

The King and Queen's of Civil Rights

Hello and welcome to the place to be for locating goodies and downright deals floating out there in cyberspace.

You may or may not know this, but the month of February is officially recognized as African American History Month. This is when the accomplishments, advancements and overall achievements made by African Americans are recognized.

I mentioned this before about a year ago, but with the recent passing of two historical African American figures, I thought it deserved a second mention.

On October 25, 2005, Rosa Parks, the woman know as the "Mother of the Civil Rights Movement" died, (She was 92 years old). It's been 50 years since Mrs. Parks, then 42yrs , committed an act of defiance that changed the course of American history. Her refusal to give up her seat on the bus, ignited a spark in African Americans all over the world, that still burns bright today, to "stand up and fight for their civil rights and equality"

Sadly, just three months later on January 31, 2006, Corretta Scott King, widow of the great civil rights leader Dr. Martin Luther King Jr., also passed away, (she was 78 years old). Corretta, called the "matriarch of the movement", dedicated her life to advancement of civil rights and equality for all people.

Both of these exceptional woman were recognized during Superbowl XL and in the recent nation wide broadcast of Bailey Broadcastings award winning 3 hour docudrama, "King-From Atlanta, to the Mountaintop", which chronicles the life and times of Dr. King with inspirational music and the words of those who knew him best.

February is Africian American History Month and this time, I've found a goodie. It's a site that pays tribute to one of the greatest African American figuers of all time, Dr. Martin Luther King. Jr.

Through his tireless work for Racial Equality and non - violent stance, Dr. King has actually become an icon in American History and the site I discovered pays tribute to Dr. King in an award winning docu - drama entitled; King - From Atlanta to the Mountaintop!
